Job Summary:
|
The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Cytotechnologist, Pathology/Cytology. The successful candidate will:
- Performs clerical and cytopreparatory processing and screening analysis of all cytological specimens.
- Process patient samples for cytological procedures including examination, accessioning and result reporting.
- Screen patient samples and provide cytologic interpretation of Gyn Specimens.
- Perform clinical laboratory testing procedures.
- Communicate with physicians, nurses and other hospital personnel to ensure proper patient histories.
- Assist to ensure proper collection, processing and reporting.
- Maintain documentation as required by the regulatory agencies, including records of workload, patient follow-ups, quality control and assignments.
- Maintain quality control of equipment and reagents.
- Compliance with hospital policy regarding annual health assessment and mandatory in-service.
- Perform other job related duties based on business need, as the duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above description.
