Job Summary:
|
The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking an hourly/per diem Pathologist Assistant / Clinical Lab Technologist - Hourly/Per Diem. The successful candidate will:
- Work under the general supervision of a Pathologist.
- Conduct gross examination of human tissue surgical specimens.
- Assure appropriate specimen accessioning and numbering of surgical specimens.
- Describe gross anatomic features, dissection, preparation and submission of tissue for microscopic examination and histologic processing; record keeping, embedding log sheet, maintenance/cleanliness of grossing areas, and perform frozen sections.
- Perform autopsy; preparation of human postmortem exam, including ascertaining proper legal authority of autopsy; autopsy may include external exam, in situ organ inspection, evisceration, dissection, record of data (weight, fluids, etc.), and prepare body for release.
