Job Summary:

The Physical Therapy Program in the School of Health Professions at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor (12MO). The successful candidate will:

  • Serve as core faculty in the BS/DPT Program.
  • Teach courses in neuromuscular PT track and other required curricula.
  • Engage in research and its dissemination.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, program governance, curriculum review, student recruitment, selection and advisement, and mentorship of student capstone projects.
  • Render professional service to the program, university, community, and profession.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD, EdD, or DSc.
  • New York State Physical Therapist Licensure.
  • 5+ years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist.
  • Strong neuromuscular physical therapy background.
  • Strong organizational, collaborative, written and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Applicants who are enrolled in a PhD, EdD or DSc program or who can commence work on a PhD, EdD or DSc upon hire, will be considered. 
  • NSC or advanced degree in motor control/motor learning preferred.
