Job Summary:

The Department of Transplant Surgery at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Physician's Assistant 1. The successful candidate will:

  • Collaborate with neurologists in dialysis planning.
  • Collaborate with attending staff in interpretation of information and developing plan of care.
  • Provide continuity of care for inpatients.
  • Participate in development and implementation of new immunosuppressive protocols.
  • Provide post-operative wound care.
  • Expedite pre-transplant evaluations and living donor transplants.
  • Network with Transplant coordinators in pre-transplant evaluation and preparation for transplant.
  • Provide perioperative support.
  • Ensure thoroughness of preoperative evaluation.
  • Assist attending staff in busy operating room, with limited house staff due to 405 regulations.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and perform additional duties as needed by the department.

Required Qualifications:

  • New York State Physician's Assistant Licensure.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited Physician's Assistant Program.
  • 2+ years of Physician's Assistant work experience, including inpatient care or experience in transplant and general surgery.
  • BLS certification.

Variable Days; 6:00am to 7:00pm (Full-Time)

Salary Grade/Rank:

SL-5

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
