Job Summary:

The Department of Radiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Medical Radiography Assistant Director, MRI/CT/IR Manager. The successful candidate will:

  • Supervise and perform those duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of Cat-Scan and MRI equipment.
  • Ensure that all standard of care are met for our patient population.
  • Ensure standards for all regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission and NY Dept. of Health are met.
  • Provide area assignments of personnel and coordinate activities within the department, with other departmental activities and services of the hospital.
  • Be responsible for the procurement and storage of supplies.
  • Be responsible for providing statistical information to determine work patterns, patient flow, budgetary information and fiscal requirements.
  • Provide good customer service to our patient population and co-workers.
  • Be fully knowledgeable of departmental policies and procedures including quality control. Problem solving regarding equipment usage and availability required.
  • Develop and introduce new techniques and procedures.
  • Monitor and enhance the program for QC and QA standards.
  • Supervise Cat-Scan, MRI and Interventional Radiology Technologists.
  • Perform CT and MRI procedures at a technical level; includes obtaining pertinent clinical and medical history of patients.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the effects of radiation exposure, radiation procedures, computer applications and imaging techniques.
  • Be responsible for safety precautions for patients and workers in regards to radiation exposure.
  • Prepare CT and MRI departments for accreditation.
  • Assist in training student technologist and medical students rotating through the department.
  • Assist in orientation and implementation of new techniques, research projects and in-service educations as directed.
  • Learn and use computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information System and PACS.
  • Burn CD’s and DVD’s when necessary.
  • Provide on-call, holiday and emergency coverage as business needs warrant or as required. 

Required Qualifications:

  • New York State X-Ray Technologist License.
  • ARRT Certification. 
  • 5+ years of hospital based experience in CT and MRI procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience;
    • OR 10-years of CT or MRI work experience.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree.
  • CT and MRI certified.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 8:00am to 4:00pm (Full-Time)

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
