The Department of Hospital Administration at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Assistant Administrator / Director of Emergency Preparedness. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for Hospital Operations (COO), the successful candidate will:
- Demonstrate extensive experience in Disaster Plan Development, trainings and exercise programs development and implementation; in addition to leading the development/implementation of all existing and new trainings and exercise programs relating to emergency preparedness, and demonstrate a thorough understanding of Joint Commission standards and all other regulatory agencies.
- Remain informed of activities or changes that could affect the likelihood of an emergency to maintain situational awareness for the hospital.
- Maintain plans that outline hospital operating procedures to be used in response to disasters or emergencies, such as hurricanes, nuclear accidents, terrorist attacks, and recovery.
- Develop and maintain liaisons with NYCDOHMH, ESF-8, GNYHA, HHS, FDNY, NYPD and similar agencies to advocate for University Hospital in city/state-wide plans development and response effort coordination.
- Remain informed of federal, state, and local regulations affecting emergency plans and ensuring that hospital plans adhere to these regulations.
- Be responsible for developing and delivering on Emergency Management contracts from the NYCDOHM/NYSDOH.
- Ensure timely reporting into NYCDOHMH, NYSDOH and HHS health reporting systems.
- Apply for funding for emergency management and related needs.
- Send out emergency messaging to Hospital for real events/or disaster exercises or drills.
- Lead the Emergency Preparedness performance improvement activities.
- Serve as the alternate chairperson of the SUNY-UHD Emergency Management Committee.
- Serve as the Emergency Management representative on the UHD's Environment of Care (EOC) Committee and hospital-wide department head meetings.
- Supervise the Assistant Emergency Preparedness Management Coordinator and all their activities.
