Job Summary:

The Special Treatment and Research (STAR) Program at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Director of Human Services / Development Director. The successful candidate will:
- Work with faculty, senior staff and line staff to identify growth opportunities that align with STAR Program’s mission.
- Provide leadership to the development of new and continuing grant applications. Hold meetings and work with faculty and team members to develop grant writing assignments. Develop all supplementary material in format for submission. Load all materials in appropriate format into electronic packages and submit to pre-award office by internal deadlines.
- Develop budgets and budget justifications to reflect the needs of the program. Ensure compliance with institutional fiscal policies in the development of budgets.
- Serve as STAR Program representative for community relations activities. Work with other senior staff on the promotion of programs and services to special populations. Report back on activities to other staff via email and formal reports in senior staff meetings.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the STAR social media consultant. Develop a system to ensure that a schedule is developed and maintained for all marketing and media activities Update and maintain STAR Program website and social media accounts to promote education on STAR Program projects.
- Develop and distribute the STAR Community Link and other program-related information and publications (such as reports on new projects, STAR Annual report) utilizing electronic media.
- Provide leadership to special projects of the STAR Program that involve development and writing, analytic and budgeting expertise, i.e. STAR policies and procedures, PCMH application, annual HIV cascade, development of study recruitment objectives, and other projects, as needed.
- Participate in programmatic and institutional development through participation in meetings and committees. Collaborate with the Planning Office and other internal departments on the development of center-wide initiatives and communicate with Institutional advancement on all new programs to ensure publication/press releases.
- Coordinate special projects as needed. Facilitate administrative activities and events. Monitor all project management plans and procedures, acquisition and deployment of project facilities and equipment.
- Serve as an integral member of the STAR Program administration and senior leadership, providing supervision and guidance to staff, as needed. The position requires organization, creativity, flexibility and willingness to evolve with the changing needs of the program.

Preferred Qualifications:
|
- Knowledge of health care finance and revenue systems strongly preferred.
- Must have advanced computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat; experience with Access and/or SPSS preferred.
